We’re thrilled to share this month’s events! As we fight for a DC budget that funds human needs and human dignity, wellness, and security, essential to this is narrative change and growing our movement! This month’s events center on that. Sign up now!
The events start in TWO days!
On Thursday, May 9th, we’ll be hitting the streets for a canvass at MLK Library at 4:30 pm. The canvass will support our guaranteed income priorities, including the DCTC. Join us to help collect signatures and spread the word about the DCGIC priorities this budget season. Register for the canvass here.
Following the canvass on May 9th, we invite you to continue the day with a special evening event. The National Women’s History Museum will present a screening of the film Storming Caesars Palace at MLK Library. This film sheds light on the visionary leadership of low-income grassroots organizers. The event will be preceded by a reception and end with networking opportunities. You can register for this event here.
On Friday, May 10th at 11:00 am, we invite women in DC to the Mother’s Outreach Network Office for a recording session to share their stories and discuss how guaranteed income has or could address challenges in their life. Our collaboration with the Our Stories, Our Justice Project will ensure these stories are heard and amplified. Please RSVP to events@mothersoutreachnetwork.
Lastly, please mark your calendars for May 16th at 5:30pm and plan to join us at the Westminster Presbyterian Church for our first DCGIC in-person meeting. We’ll discuss budget actions and updates and host a presentation by Janna M. Parker, Executive Director of PG ChangeMakers. This meeting promises to be a pivotal moment in our ongoing work together. We’ll also have a Zoom option for those unable to attend in person. Register here: https://bit.ly/
The movement requires your energy, time, and talent. It requires long-term commitment and a focus on the North Star of an abundance platform. Sustain your energy with us, bring others into the movement, and help us tackle this battle and win the war. Join us in our events!

Back in October of last year, we hosted an event, GI and DC Women, to tell stories virtually via Zoom about how guaranteed income could connect the lives of women, including those who identify as moms, to resources for basic needs that disproportionately impact women.
On Friday, May 10th, we invite women in DC to a recording session to tell their stories about housing insecurity, family policing involvement, and sex work and share how guaranteed income could help address these issues. We’ll be joined by the Our Stories, Our Justice Project, a participatory storytelling project that centers individuals and their communities in a collective effort to (re)produce oral and visual histories that shine a light on a continuum of radical leadership by BIPOC women. If you or someone you know is interested in participating in this event, please let us know and forward this event to your networks. We will provide an honoraria payment for your time.
