The DC Council Approves A Child Tax Credit for DC!

Terrific news! We did it! On Tuesday, the DC Council cleared another major hurdle with the second and final vote on the Budget Support Act, which includes a child tax credit for people with no earned income, as well as those making a moderate income.

The District of Columbia is on an historic path to a guaranteed income, starting with parents with young children. The Council has passed Councilmember Parker’s version of the District Child Tax Credit.

Also included in the abundance platform of this DC Council are restored items that are critical to human needs of our DC neighbors. This includes essential dollars invested in the Child Wealth Building Act of 2021 and the Access to Justice Fund. There are others for which we are grateful! See more here

Join us in thanking Chair Mendelson (pmendelson@dccouncil.gov) for his leadership! Thank Councilmember Zachary Parker (zparker@dccouncil.gov) for blazing a path to a guaranteed income for DC’s families with children through his proposal, The District Child Tax Credit Amendment Act of 2023. And thank you! Stay connected for further news.
