Tomorrow, May 29th at 11am, the Committee of the Whole Budget Oversight Hearing will take place. A critical moment of action for members of the Council to stand up for marginalized communities, that hearing will include the first of two votes on DC budget legislation, the FY 2025 Local Budget Act of 2025 and the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Support Act of 2024. DC Council Visit
Last Friday, May 24, members of the DC Guaranteed Income Coalition visited the DC Council at the Wilson Building prior to tomorrow’s Committee of the Whole Budget Oversight Hearing! Members met with Councilmember Matthew Frumin and discussed the DCGI Platform of restoring cuts from vital programs like Access to Justice and Pay Equity Funds, supporting Baby Bonds, and adding initiatives such as the District Child Tax Credit. Thank you to the DC Council and Councilmember Matthew Frumin for considering a human needs budget that is built around the values of abundance and a solidarity economy!
